The Kenya government is among the African countries which have been facing challenges in fighting Corona virus pandemic.
Most of the countries affected by the pandemic include some of East African countries members like Rwanda and Uganda who have opted to lockdown the movement of their citizens in reducing the spread of the desease which seem to Bear some fruit. The Kenya government have decided to use curfew and cessation method in fighting the pandemic which is not much effective in curbing the desease.
Some of reasons that led the Kenya government to use the curfew and cessation method over lockdown are;
- Lack of finance for supporting its citizens with foodstuffs and other basic needs when the lockdown is enforced. Where most of its citizens are low income earners who earn from hand to mouth.
- Some powerful and prominent government officials are not ready to welcome the lockdown because their businesses will be affected by the lockdown. These business include sale of petroleum products which would be affected when the vehicle movements will be prohibited,also those who deal with foodstuffs commodities where they fear the reduce or no Sale of their products when citizens are forced to stay in their homes.
These are some of many other reasons might have led the Kenyan government not enforcing lockdown.
